Ordering
The current waiting list for an instrument is 6 to 9 months from the time of deposit. A $1000 deposit is required to place an order. $2000 is due after construction is complete ($3000 for the Meritage-7), prior to finishing and setup. A photo journal will be sent at this time depicting the construction details. The balance is due at the time of shipment.
The Popken-6 and Meritage-7 are both available in two materials variations:
1. (RW) Redwood top with curly Claro Walnut back and sides (Rich bass, bright balanced sound, superior projection)
2. (CR) Cedar top with Indian Rosewood back and sides (Harmonic, clear trebles and warm bass, very open sound)
Meritage-7 features the unique precision-machined magnesium alloy bridge, while the Popken-6 includes a standard ebony version.
All other materials are identical: Cedar neck, ebony fingerboard, Curly maple binding, headstock veneer, end graft & heel cap.
The tuning mechanisms are Gilbert, ebony knobs with abalone inserts. String length is 650mm. Finish is KTM water-based lacquer.
The proprietary shape of these instruments necessitates a custom case design, which is included in the purchase price.

Satisfaction is guaranteed. All money is refundable (less shipping costs) if not satisfied after 90 days. Refund is available to customer only after the instrument is resold. If instrument is blemished in any way upon return, item will be sold at appropriate discount. Amount refunded is commensurate with actual resale amount.

Students receive a 15% discount. I suffered with inadequate guitars for some time, despite what others may tell you, a fine instrument makes practicing a joy. The instrument you learn upon will ultimately help your overall performance.
Unlike other luthiers, there is no difference between a model I make with a student discount or without. All material grades are master grade, construction is identical, and workmanship same.
You do need to provide proof of attending university for music purposes. Copy of letter of acceptance, student ID, or semester grade report are all acceptable. $1000 deposit remains the same - 15% discount will be applied to balance due.
